Our Story
Two islands, one yard
Vineyaadie started on a simple summer evening, in a conversation between friends. We were talking about creating something that would represent the Jamaican community here on Martha’s Vineyard: something we could wear, share and be proud of. By the end of the night, we had a name.

01 · The evening
It started with a conversation
No business plan, no boardroom. Just friends on a summer evening on the Vineyard, talking about home: the island we come from and the island we live on now.
02 · The name
Vineyard + yaadie
Vineyard, for the island we call home today. Yaadie, what Jamaicans call one of our own: someone from yard. Put together, Vineyaadie means a Jamaican at home on Martha’s Vineyard. We liked it the moment we said it out loud.
03 · The colors
Both flags, one design
To bring the two islands together, we started with the colors of both flags: Jamaica’s green, gold and black alongside red, white and blue. Then we added the symbols that represent each island.
What you’ll find in the designs
Island outlines
Jamaica and Martha’s Vineyard, each with its own tee: the Jamaica Island Logo T-Shirt and the Martha’s Vineyard Map T-Shirt.
Palms and the sunset
Warm island light on both horizons, in the Sunset Circle Logo T-Shirt.
The lighthouse
A nod to the Vineyard’s coastline, set among the palms.
The wordmark
Our name, lettered in the colors of both flags, on the Vineyaadie Wordmark T-Shirt.

From the community, for the community
Vineyaadie isn’t about one face or one name. It was started by friends for the Jamaican community on the Vineyard, and for everyone who feels at home on both islands. That’s why you won’t find our faces here: the story belongs to everyone who wears it. Today Vineyaadie is a Jamaican lifestyle brand that starts with four graphic tees, available with local pickup on the island and shipping across the US.
